Playstation 3 and harmony?
Ok…so I got a PS3 from a good friend of mine this weekend and of course we got guitar hero and rock band. It’s basically taken over our lives! All that aside though if you were thinking of adding a PS3 to your entertainment center, with the rest of your 30 different components and you were going to add it to your universal remote and control the blu-ray dvd player on the PS3 with that universal remote…well think again!
The PS3 has incorporated bluetooth technology, in fact all wireless controllers on the PS3 are bluetooth, there is no radio frequency, no infrared transmitter. Which is cool! I mean the dvd player remote you buy for it is bluetooth also and you don’t have to have it pointed at the PS3…can you tell what the draw back is?
Universal remotes all run off of Infrared (IR) technology they can have some radio frequency (RF) components to them but for the most part it’s all IR. The PS3 doesn’t even have an IR port or anything. So you are wondering why you just spent a cool $250 on the logitech harmony remote right? Well I got a harmony remote as part of a package deal last year when I got the Xbox 360, and unfortunately I just have to use 2 remote controls, one for TV, receiver, cable box, and computer. The other just for the PS3…2 remotes out of 5 that’s not bad right?

What are you going to do with the three remotes you’re not using? Christmas ornaments, maybe? Spare parts? A birthday present for Andy?

I might start a Museum of electronic antiques with the remote controller as the headliner! Museum…isn’t that a weird word? I mean it took me a few to figure out how to spell it…

Museum…you’re amused by the word museum…how much time do you have…jk
Suggestion for the old remotes…clay pigeons or sparec components…whatever comes first…
